Every tune you play, in one place

A tune archive for folk and traditional musicians. Keep the key and tuning of every tune, see what needs practice, and take your setlist to the gig.

Everything free for 30 days, then free for up to 50 tunes. No card needed.

A tune list under the Tunes, Practice, Sets and Setlists tabs, with filters for instrument, tuning and key: Kitchen Girl, Sally Ann, Soldier's Joy and more, each with its key, type, tradition and instruments, and a Played button

Every detail, every tuning

The key, the tuning on each instrument, and who you learned it from, kept with the tune. Filter by tuning to see everything you play in double C, and bring the list you already have: paste it or upload a spreadsheet.

See what needs practice

Tap Played when you run through a tune. Hollow Log notices what you haven't played in a while and puts the most overdue first.

The practice page, open in the main navigation: two tunes going stale, Cold Frosty Morning and Pretty Polly, then five fading

Ready for the gig

Group tunes into sets, build the night's setlist, and send the band a link. It reads well on a phone and prints cleanly, no account needed to open it.

Record the lesson, play it slower

On a paid plan, press Record at the lesson or the jam, signal or no signal, and it's kept with the tune. Play it back at 75% speed until the B part sits under your fingers.

Who makes this

Hollow Log is made by me, Erik Pendleton. I play guitar and clawhammer banjo, and I first built it for myself. I could never remember all the tunes I’ve learned or what keys or tunings they’re in without digging through a pile of random recordings and notes.

It is paid for by people who subscribe. There will never be ads, your tunes are yours, and nothing gets sold or used to train AI models. If Hollow Log ever closes, you get 60 days’ notice and your export keeps working, see terms.

If something is broken or missing, write to me at support@hollowlog.app.

Free to start

Your first 30 days include everything. After that, up to 50 tunes stay free, with import and export included. $3 a month, $24 a year or $59 once removes the limit and keeps recordings, photos and PDFs with your tunes.
