Terms and refunds
The short version
- Your tunes, notes and recordings are yours. You can export your tunes or delete your account at any time.
- Your first 30 days include everything, with no card. After that the free plan is free for good, up to 50 tunes. Paid plans are billed through Stripe and you can cancel whenever you like.
- If you are not happy with a payment, tell us within 14 days (30 for lifetime) and we will refund it in full.
- Only upload what you have the right to keep, and do not use Hollow Log to harm it or anyone else.
The rest of this page says the same things carefully. By making an account or using Hollow Log you agree to it.
Who we are
Hollow Log is run by ERKHLM LLC. "We" and "us" on this page mean ERKHLM LLC, and "you" means the person using Hollow Log. You can reach us at support@hollowlog.app.
Your account
- You need to be at least 16 years old to make an account.
- Your account is for you. Keep your sign-in to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used it.
- Use an email address you can read. It is how we reach you about your account, and how a subscription is matched to it.
- You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from your Profile. Our Privacy policy says exactly what is deleted and when.
Plans and payment
- A new account has everything a paid plan includes for its first 30 days, with less file storage. The trial needs no card, ends by itself, and never turns into a charge. When it ends your account is on the free plan and nothing is deleted, exactly as described under Cancelling below.
- The free plan holds up to 50 tunes and includes import, export, practice tracking, sets, setlists and sharing.
- Paid plans remove the tune limit and add recording and file attachments, with 10 GB of storage. The current plans and prices are on the plans page, in US dollars.
- Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- Monthly and annual plans renew automatically until you cancel.
- Lifetime is paid once and never renews. It lasts for as long as Hollow Log is offered and your account exists; it is not a promise that Hollow Log will run forever (see If Hollow Log closes).
- If a sales tax or VAT applies to your purchase, it is shown at checkout before you pay.
Cancelling
You can cancel a monthly or annual plan at any time from the plans page. There is nobody to ask and nothing to explain.
- You keep everything the plan includes until the end of the period you have paid for. You are not charged again.
- After that your account moves to the free plan. Nothing is deleted. If you have more than 50 tunes, all of them stay in your list: the 50 you edited most recently stay open and the rest are locked, which means you can read, export and delete them but cannot edit them or mark them as played, and you cannot add more. Files you attached stay viewable, but you cannot upload new ones.
- You can still export every tune, and subscribing again opens every tune again.
Refunds
- Monthly and annual plans. If you ask within 14 days of a payment, whether it was your first or a renewal, we refund that payment in full.
- Lifetime. If you ask within 30 days of buying it, we refund it in full.
- To ask, email support@hollowlog.app from the address on your account. You do not need to give a reason. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, usually within 5 to 10 business days.
- A refund ends the plan it paid for, and your account moves to the free plan as it does when you cancel. Nothing is deleted.
- After those periods a payment is not refundable, but you can always cancel so that you are not charged again.
- Deleting your account ends a lifetime membership. If you are still within the 30 days, ask for the refund before you delete the account.
If the law where you live gives you a right to a refund that goes further than this, you have that right as well.
What you put into Hollow Log
- Your tunes, notes, lyrics, sets, setlists, recordings and files remain yours. We claim no ownership of them.
- You give us permission to store them, back them up, and show them to you and to the people you choose to share with. That is all we do with them. Sharing your archive shows someone your tunes and what you have written about them; your recordings and attached files are shown only to you. We do not sell them and we do not use them to train AI models; the Privacy policy has the details.
- You are responsible for what you add. Only upload recordings, sheet music, tablature and photos that you made or have the right to keep a copy of. If you record a lesson, a workshop or other players, have their permission.
- When you share your archive with someone, they can add a copy of any of your tunes to their own archive, and that copy stays theirs if you stop sharing or delete your account.
- Anyone who has a setlist's stage link can read that setlist. Resetting the link turns the old one off.
Copyright complaints
If you believe something stored in Hollow Log infringes your copyright, email support@hollowlog.app with what the work is, where you saw it, and how to reach you. We will look into it, remove what should not be there, and may close the accounts of people who do it repeatedly.
Using Hollow Log fairly
Please do not:
- Upload anything unlawful, or anything you have no right to share
- Try to get into anyone else's account or archive, or probe, overload or interfere with the service
- Collect data from Hollow Log with automated tools, other than exporting your own
- Resell Hollow Log, or use its storage as general file hosting: attachments are for the tunes, sets and setlists they belong to
Each paid account has 10 GB of storage, and there are limits on the size of a single file and a single recording, which the app tells you when you reach them.
Changes to Hollow Log and its prices
- We add to Hollow Log and change it over time. If we ever remove something you pay for, we will tell you beforehand.
- A new price applies to new subscriptions. If the price of a plan you already have is going to change, we will email you at least 30 days before the renewal it would first apply to, so you can cancel if you prefer.
Availability and your own copy
We work to keep Hollow Log running and your archive safe, and we back it up. But Hollow Log is provided as it is, without a guarantee that it will always be available or free of errors. Your tunes export as a spreadsheet on every plan; if your archive matters to you, download a copy from time to time, and keep your own copies of the files you attach.
If Hollow Log closes
If we ever decide to close Hollow Log, we will:
- Tell you by email at least 60 days beforehand
- Keep export and downloads working until the day it closes
- Refund the unused full months of any annual plan, and refund in full any lifetime membership bought in the 12 months before we told you
If we close an account
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first and give you the chance to put it right and to export your tunes. If we close an account for any other reason, we refund the unused part of what you have paid.
Our responsibility to you
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing on this page takes away rights that the law where you live gives you as a consumer and that cannot be signed away.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The new version is posted here with its date. If a change matters to what you have paid for or to your rights, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. Carrying on using Hollow Log after that means you accept it.
